Connecting your Faculty PRO account to your ORCID iD allows you to automatically import your activities into PRO with a one-time sign-in.

What is ORCID?

ORCID is a non-profit organization supported by a global community of organizational members, including research organizations, publishers, funders, professional associations, and other stakeholders in the research ecosystem. The organization provides a persistent digital identifier (ORCID iD) that distinguishes you from every other researcher and, through integration in key research workflows such as manuscript and grant submission, supports automated linkages between you and your professional activities ensuring that your work is recognized.

Connect your ORCID iD to PRO

1) On the Publications screen, select the Import button (next to +Add New Item) from the top-bar menu.

2) On the right-hand side of the screen under "Import from a Third Party", select ORCID from the drop-down menu named "Select a service".

3) Click the button labelled "Create or Connect Your ORCID iD".

4) Register or sign in via ORCID. If you don't have an ORCID iD, you can use this prompt to create one.

5) Complete the authorization process. We do this to ensure that you approve the connection to your ORCID iD and that we are connecting to your ORCID iD securely. At present Faculty PRO will only “ready your limited-access information”; it does not actively push data into ORCID to “add or update your research activities”.

Your one-time sign-up is complete! The next time you log into PRO, you can select ORCID from the "Import from a Third Party" drop-down menu and receive a prompt to search your ORCID for the activities you want to import into PRO.

Importing Items from ORCID

1) On the Publications screen, select the Import button (next to +Add New Item) from the top-bar menu.

2) On the right-hand side of the screen under "Import from a Third Party", select ORCID from the drop-down menu named "Select a service".

3) After selecting ORCID, select the "Search ORCID" button that appears.

4) You will then be shown a list of publications associated with your ORCID iD. Note that PRO will only import records marked as "public" or "trusted-party" in ORCID. Any records marked as "only me" cannot be imported.

5) Select the items you wish to import. PRO will sort for duplicates and alert you if any are found. You can then choose to cancel import for any duplicated item. PRO will allow you to compare the record you're about to import with the record already in your PRO to help you confirm any duplication. Select "Skip" at the bottom of the screen to cancel import for any duplicates.

6) After sorting for duplicates, PRO will show which activities will be imported and how they will appear in your PRO. Click "Finish Import" to proceed to the final authorization. A pop-up will appear - select "Import" to complete the process.
